Measurement & High Maturity Workshop
An Advanced Topics Course
Overview
Measurement is an important aspect of effective processes. As organizations consider the changes necessary to establish high-maturity processes (i.e., Maturity Levels 4 and 5), measurement becomes even more critical. Structured as a two- or three-day workshop, the first part of this course presents the basic elements of an effective measurement program. The second part focuses on the Maturity Levels 4 and 5 process areas and discusses statistical and other methods used in high-maturity processes.
Intended Audience
This workshop addresses the needs of:
- Process group members who are responsible for defining and supporting high-maturity processes.
- Software and systems professionals who are responsible for implementing measurement programs.
- Project managers and others who are responsible for analyzing and using quantitative information.
Workshop Objectives
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of the principles of effective measurement and analysis.
- Understand the practices included in the Maturity Level 4 and 5 process areas
- Learn how to use process modelling, statistical process control, root cause analysis, and other techniqes to control and improve process performance.

Format
The general format is lecture and discussion combined with exercises that serve to illustrate and reinforce the concepts and techniques presented. The exercises are designed to produce results that can be applied within the organization.
